Message from Library Director Carolyn Rawles-Heiser

September / October 2005
We live in a very generous community. People give their time and money to make Corvallis and Benton County a great place to live. The Library is fortunate to receive strong support both in volunteer hours and donations.

Last fiscal year, we received $70,262 from 673 donations! The names of our donors are listed in this issue of Check It Out. We received donations for the new Alsea Community Library, a small expansion of the Monroe library, a proposed reading area in memory of Victor Brookes, and of course for books, materials, and programs. These donations contribute greatly to our ability to serve the whole community. The Friends of the Library and the Corvallis–Benton County Public Library Foundation received many of these donations and were able to provide needed furniture, equipment, and the whole Summer Reading Program because of the generosity of our donors.

Thank you, Friends and Foundation, and thank you, donors!
