Foundation Accomplishments

Many library patrons might not be aware that several of their favorite library services have been funded by the Foundation. Over the past few years, the Foundation has made the following gifts, thanks to generous support from patrons:

  • Over $57,000 for Library materials (books, DVDs, audiobooks, CDs)

  • A self-checkout machine in the main library

  • The Victor Brooks Reading Room, in the children's section

  • Assistance to the Monroe Library in the form of a demographic study to determine if Monroe qualified for project grants, and a portable credit card transaction reader to make it easier for contributors to charge donations

In addition, over the years, the Foundation has purchased:

  • The centennial art piece that hangs outside the Main Meeting Room, Willamette River Diptych by artist W. E. Shumway and sculptor Raymond Hunter

  • A wireless microphone system for the Meeting Room

  • The large mobile that hangs in the center of the main library lobby, "Siuslaw Sun Showers" by artist Michele Gutlove
