Local Groups

 

Out N' About
Out N’ About is a support group for LGBTQQIP (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Pansexual) High Schoolers. The group aims to ensure positive mental and physical health but throughout the years it has become a support network rich with resources, positive role models and educational activities.

Activities include:

  • discussion, crafts, games, guest speakers
  • PFLAG Community Potluck (3rd Thursday of each month) - the potluck is a great chance for the older and younger generations of the community to interact
  • Movie Night (4th Thursday of each month) - focuses on films usually related to LGBTQ issues, culture, or stereotypes.


MEETINGS
The group meets every Thursday night from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Although it is NOT a church group, the group meets at the First United Methodist Church in room 219-A. The church is located on the corner of 11th Street and NW Monroe in Corvallis.

PFLAG - Corvallis/Albany Chapter

"PFLAG" is Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.  PFLAG provides support for family members and friends, bi-monthly education programs, guest speakers, a quarterly newsletter, and lots of other good things.

MEETINGS
Usually meets the 4th Monday of each month in the Martha Room; please call for confirmation. Fellowship and library perusal at 6:40 pm. Meeting starts at 7:00 pm.

Pride Center (OSU)

The Pride Center provides programs and support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual members of the OSU/Corvallis community and their allies (LGBTQQIAA). The Pride Center is a safe space for all members of our community to explore aspects of sexual orientation and gender identity in an open and non-judgmental atmosphere. Local teens are welcome!

The Pride Center also offers:

  • Friendly office staff who are available to talk to, as well as help you connect with a variety of resources.
  • A library including over 1,000 books on LGBTQ history, health, religion, and more.
  • LGBTQ magazines and newspapers
  • Public computers with free printing
  • A safe and comfortable space to hang out, study, and learn about LGBTQ individuals and issues.

It Gets Better Project

The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach -- if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone - and it WILL get better.

The website is a place where young people who are lesbian, gay, bi, or trans can see how love and happiness can be a reality in their future. It's a place where our straight allies can visit and support their friends and family members. It's a place where people can share their stories, take the It Gets Better Project pledge, watch videos of love and support, and seek help.


Safe Schools Coalition
The Safe Schools Coalition is an international public-private partnership in support of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth, that is working to help schools - at home and all over the world - become safe places where every family can belong, where every educator can teach, and where every child can learn, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. 

Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is determined to end suicide among LGBTQ youth by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including our nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone.

TrevorSpace

A social networking site for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth ages 13 through 24 and their friends and allies.
